Company Kia told details about the new Straight-three engine T-GDI volume of 1.0 liters and a new automatic gearbox with two clutches. Both new products will be showcased at the 85th International Motor Show in Geneva.
The first studies for the family Kappa motor company Kia showed two years ago. At this time in Geneva driven production model of the engine, which is already installed on a new modification of the model Kia cee’d GT Line.
T-GDI is a gasoline engine with direct injection and turbocharging technology. An injection system of fuel-air mixture is unique: the nozzle holes are arranged pyramid and formed with a laser. Turbocharging is made in a “single-scroll” and works in tandem with an electric motor driving the bypass valve.

It is noted that the new engine has an integrated exhaust manifold, which allows slightly lower the temperature of exhaust gases, which improves the efficiency of the catalytic converter, thereby providing a cleaner exhaust.
Temperature regimes of the engine can now be adjusted to more accurately through the use of new separate cooling system with two thermostats.

Along with the new liter T-GDI Kia unveiled its first ever automatic transmission with double clutch (DCT), which was developed exclusively by the company in Namyang. The engineers had the task to achieve improved dynamics during acceleration to 100 km / h in 3.5%, and reduce fuel consumption by 5-7% depending on the model.
New Kia DCT is able to “digest” more torque (300 Nm) than the currently used automatic six-speed torque converter.
